About Me

Greetings All,

My name is Alexa Bixel and I am the owner of Bixel’s Rabbitry. We currently raise Mini Rex Rabbits in Black, Broken, Castor, and Tortoise. Our rabbitry started as a small 4 - H project in 2005 and grew into a medium sized rabbitry with quality mini rex rabbits. We only keep a medium sized herd because here at our rabbitry we believe in Quality is far more important than quantity of animals. We strive to produce quality mini rex that are sound show animals. That are closely bred to the Mini Rex ARBA standard.

To date I am an active member of the American Rabbits Breeder’s Assoc., the National Mini Rex Rabbit Club, the Pennsylvania Rabbit Breeders Assoc., the Majestic Mini Rex Specialty Club and the Susquehanna Haybalers Clinton County 4-H Group. I have been active in my clubs and associations. I have held many offices and titles such as the NMRRC D9 Youth Director, MMRSC Youth Sweepstakes Chair Person, MMRSC Web Mistress, MMRSC Youth Director, Vice President of the Susquehanna Haybalers 4-H Club, and I am the former Susquehanna hay balers President. I have just took on a new venture of being the PaSRBA Awards Chair Person along side my mother, Michele Bixel.

Since we have started showing and raising Mini Rex Rabbits in 2005, We have been lucky enough to have quality stock since the beginning. My stock has preformed extremely well over the last few years of showing. To date we have accomplished 2 Best In Shows, 2 Reserve in Shows, 19 Best of Breeds, 8 Best Opposite Sex of Breed Awards. Our stock also has won Many Best of Varieties and Best Opposite of Varieties awards. We also have many Best Overall Fur Awards, Best Colored Fur, and Best White Fur awards on our credit.


Along with showing locally, Our rabbits have also placed well on a national level. We have attended some of the ARBA Conventions and National Breed Shows. Our rabbits have held their own each year and have come home with the following placing :

Breeding Program

 

As a breeder of Mini Rex, I strive to produce top quality animals that fit their ARBA standard as much as possible. Our Idea is excellence for our rabbits. We have utilized a selection of top bloodlines and bred them to produce our own line of homebred rabbits. Lines that can be found in our stock today is : Higher Ground Farm, Iris Patch, and Cresthill's. I follow a very strict breeding program that I have been successful in. When breeding my animals I keep breeding goals in mind and breed my animals to be the best they can. After all, the idea is excellence.
